Loni Kim

collecting fragments. weaving words and images. stringing songs from the homeland.

Loni Kim is a sacred storyteller and songkeeper based in Seoul. She writes about place, land, and living memory carried in strands of songs and bits of soil. Her work explores how sound, performance, and narrative function as carriers of cultural memory and ecological knowledge. She is particularly interested in place-based practices, collective fields of attention, and forms of transmission that are embodied, ephemeral, and communal. She sings mezzo-soprano for an Irish choral ensemble based on the AnĂșna school, and plays first violin for her village's community orchestra. She also practices the 12-string gayageum.
